Why Education

Most people were, are, or will be placed in schools. We are created as babies knowing absolutely nothing, but having the potential to learn all kinds of knowledge. Our society uses the education system to train people to be professional and beneficial to others. This is an essential part of our world.

However, school is often a pressured environment. Students are required to finish their homework and pass their tests. They often have to sacrifice their leisure or stay up late. School is also a competitive environment. Competition is the best tool for motivating students. Normally, a small percentage of students are honored, while the others are not. It makes many young minds proud or jealous. Educational opportunities depend upon financial situations, personal abilities, luck, and numerous other factors. The system is not fair.

Nevertheless, education should be a positive experience for people. All people should take advantage of their best educational opportunities, and enjoy the fruitful years of learning. One may come to know God greater through the pursuit of knowledge and the development of various skills. Besides, education itself implies some truth about our world.

Life is an educational process. God uses this process to teach people about him. All events in life may reveal something and help people grow. Nobody can understand everything about the truth of God, but it is worthwhile to pursue. One should learn these things little by little as when taking courses in school. One should have the curiosity and determination to learn the lesson of life as is done in school.

Life is also a test. It is a test for each one to find the ultimate truth of the world, which includes whether or not God exists and the meaning of life. There is limited time for this test. There are answers for the questions, but the answers are unknown at the time of the test is taken. One should do his or her best to find the answers yielding the best result. After the time limit, the result is determined and unalterable. The result of this test matters.

In churches, Christian students often pray for the ability to deal with their school work and tests. It’s God’s plan to put them in such situations, and teach them how to rely on him through prayer. He reveals his faithfulness through these challenging events. He uses the education system to give people the ability to contribute to society and, more importantly, the ability to bring the gospel to the others.
